Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick Bois De Rose

Ladies and Gentleman (If there are any hovering here)

I proudly present to you Ms. Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick Bois De Rose. Before she decided to meet me, she was adorning the web pages and shelves of Apothica.  I requested her to meet me and she came all the way from USA. Once we met, she decided that we can have a good life together. So decided to stay. Can’t tell you how grateful I am to her. Now, once in a while, when she is not cooling her heels in the refrigerator (The heat is too much for her), she loves to sit pretty on my lips and make them all pouty.

Enough of my silly ramblings and whimsical tales. I got Ms. Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick Bois De Rose as a part of my Apothica haul. I tend to refer to my lipsticks as Ms. Lol. Feels like it imparts a delicate feminity to the lipsticks. (I know, I am silly. A bit Stupid too)

So, without any more sillyness, I present to you Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick Bois De Rose, in her full glory.

Price: $ 16 at Apothica.

They also offer medium to full, buildable coverage and promises long-lasting wear, fade resistant.

Colour - Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick Bois de Rose is a warm toned brick rose/dusty rose or let’s just say Red + Pink+ Brown.  The shade is perfect for fair to medium to dusky skin tones.

Texture - The formula and texture instantly makes my lips look fuller and plumper. This shade is also very wearable – for day and night. The shade is neither too loud nor too sheer. I can very much wear it to office as well as for a dressy occasion.  It’s very pigmented and one swipe is enough. It’s not drying at all. I can wear it without any lip balm or gloss. It does’nt even settle into fine lines and rather makes the fine lines a little less prominent.

Staying Power - it’s very light weight and glides smoothly on lips. I get 4-5 hours of wear with it, with few drinks of water and light snacks in between. The colour fades evenly after 4 hours and needs re-touching after a full meal. I keep it in the refrigerator because it gets really soft in the heat and might melt.

Fragrance - I cannot detect any peculiar fragrance. Did I ever mention that I am partially disabled when it comes to smells and fragrances. I can detect only strong fragrances.

I did a lot of googling for swatches before buying this one from Apothica. So, on very skin skin tones, it looks more like a pinkish red shades. On medium skin tones like our Indian skin tones, it’s more of a dusty rose.

A few Lip Swatches

Can you notice a visible plumpness

Another Lip Swatch

Would I buy Again - Should I even answer this ? of course YES.

I will get other shades like Blushing, Midnight Rose, Fig, Candy. These shades look perfect for Indian skin tones.

Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick In Coral Reef and a Lip Swatch

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Recently I too got bitten by the red lipstick bug. ( I am always late and the undaring). I always feared that wearing a red lipstick would make my pale complexion even more pale and ghastly. My hunt for the perfect red lipstick continued till I saw this lipstick on Ankita’s Blog. Read her review Read her review here. It looked just perfect for me. Not too loud and a very pretty shade. I grabbed it the moment I next went to a chambor counter.

Texture - Very true to its name, the lipstick is matte and intensely pigmented. It’s soft and goes smoothly over lips without making them overly drying. My upper lip is quite pigmented then my lower lip. But one swipe of the lipstick and it evenly covers both my lips. My upper lip does not look darker then my lower lip. It is matter but not very drying. I apply a waxy lip balm (Lotus Herbals Lip Balm) 1-2 hours before I have to wear this lipstick and there is no drying. When I forget to wear a lip balm before, I apply lip balm right before or even wearing this lipstick. Wearing a lip balm under or over the lipstick does not affect the staying power of this lipstick. It looks great when worn with a lip gloss. Sometimes, when I want to keep it looking reddish, I wear a clear lip gloss. When I apply  peachy lip gloss over it, the colour intensity gets toned down. Most of the times, I exfoliate my lips before applying this lipstick to keep the flakiness away.

The best thing about this lipstick is that it does not melt in heat. It can be carried in your handbag and no need to store it in the refrigerator. At first I used to keep it in the refrigerator and when I used to apply immediately after taking it out, it used to look uneven and less smooth. But when I started keeping it on my dresser and applied it, it used to apply perfectly.
Price - Rs. 450

Quantity - 4.5 grams

Staying Power - I got a wear time of about 4-5 hours from this lipstick which is great.

Colour - The colour is a dark pink, rather reddish pink with warm undertones. For fair and pale complexion girls, this would lean more towards red with pink undertones. However, on dusky beauties, it would appear more like a dark pink. I totally agree when Ankita of Corallista describes it as “The color is out of this world and I am short of words to define the color.  Its a coral, peachy pink, sometimes carrot plus pink, sometimes a little brick”

It just brightens up my face. The only drawback I found is the shape of the lipstick. It does not apply well on contours of lips like the corners and cupid’s bow, but all that can be taken care of by a Q-tip.
Would I buy again - Of course. I will now buy the desert rose shade now.
The texture of this one is super smooth, soft and pigmented, nothing falls short. When you swipe the color, such a thick pigmented color comes off, like almost a liquid lip color you would.  This would cover the most pigmented lips as well.

Here are a few pictures of me wearing it

I was just trying to focus the camera and it got clicked. Touchscreen Phones :-D

Still a bit hesitant to put full face Pics.

Mario Badescu Special Hand Cream with Vitamin E - Review

Saturday, August 25, 2012
Hey Girls,

If you have been following my blog regularly, you must be remembering I recently told you that I had won a gift card from the Mario Badescu in one of their Pinterest contests. You can view that post here.

So after using the Mario Badescu Special Hand Cream with Vitamin E for about 2 weeks, it's the perfect time to review it. Honestly, I am not the one who would take care or pamper my hands. I have never ever got a manicure done in my almost 28 years of existence. But lately, I started noticing that my hands had started looking somewhat in a bad shape and felt a lot more dry. Yeah, talk about centuries of neglect. My hands used to feel extremely dry and stretchy whenever I would do the dishes or stuff like that. Applying moisturizer and hand creams did not help much. My hands felt soft till the time the cream was on my hands. The moment I washed my hands with only water, they would start feeling dry again. My cuticles were also very dry and chaffing. In short, my hands were nothing less then dry and were on verge of getting cracked and bleeding.

So, when I won their contest and was browsing their website, this hand cream immediately caught my eye and I added it to my cart. it arrived a few weeks later with my lovely friend, M, who very sweetly got me tons of goodies as well as the stuff I had ordered. The next day, I used this cream before my afternoon nap and when I woke up, my hands felt a lot lot better and hydrated. Immediate results make me very very happy.

Price and Quantity - $ 8 for 4 oz. (118ml)

You can read about the ingredients and claims here

My Experience

True to its claims, the cream is very light yet very effective and it gets immediately absorbed. It's not like those hands cream which makes hands feel slippery all the time and you end up leaving fingerprints on your laptop, cellphone and everything you touch. I applied it, rubbed for few seconds and it vanished into my skin. No greasy hands. I can very much work on my laptop after applying this cream. Just apply, rub for 5-7 seconds and it vanishes inside but the effect stays. I need a very tiny amount for both hands, just a pea sized amount. When I started using it, I used to take more quantity, but after a week of continuous use, my hands felt healthy and better, so I use just half of what I was using before. It can be applied as often needed but now I apply it only before bed. Definitely, HOLY GRAIL hand cream for me.

Let me divulge another secret. When my cheeks feel dry, I apply a tiny amount of this Hand cream on my face too. Never broke me out and the dryness on my face is gone.

The quantity for the price is too good and definitely more value for money.

This is the amount I need for both hands. The Tub will easily last me 8-10 months with daily usage.

The only drawbacks I can mention are that like all good brands, Mario Badescu is not available in India. Another thing is that the cream comes in a big tub, which is definitely not travel friendly, but I have no complaints because the quantity in the tube is huge.

The pictures whole heartedly appreciate the efforts of Mr. Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman for making them blogworthy. The author is still learning to take better pictures.
Disclaimer - This is not a sponsored post. I got the products using a gift card which I won in a contest. Honest Opinion as always.

Personal Care Deep Cleaning Astringent Review

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Hello Girls and Ladies,

How many of you have dry skin and use astringents?? I guess, very few. I too have dry skin and never used astringent. I have always used rose water as toner and never thought that I would be using an astringent on my face. Read on to know Why??

So, I got this Personal Care Deep Cleaning Astringent as a gift from a dear friend of my mom who returned after visiting her daughter in US of A. I got lucky and she got me hoards of skincare goodies. When she was giving me the stuff she got for me, she told me that her daughter K, also uses the astringent daily. I was a bit surprised because K also has a dry skin like me. Anyways, this Deep Cleaning Astringent sat pretty on my dresser for few days. I would look at it and always thought that I will pass it over to a friend of mine who has oily and acne prone skin. Then one day, I decided to try it on myself. Just reading through the ingredients gave me a mini heart attack because it contained 24% alcohol. Yes, a whopping 24%. I decided to put it down again, thinking it will turn my skin into a sandpaper in a single wipe, but I decided to be brave and put 4-5 drops on a cotton ball and wiped it on my face.

Surprise surprise, shock shock. I did not experience any drying of skin nor need any to use moisturiser. The cotton ball was covered with grime and dirt, I never knew was sitting on my face. I used it 2-3 times a week just like a toner, apply on cotton ball and wipe it on my face. Another Surprise surprise, shock shock. After 5-6 uses over a matter of 2 weeks, I noticed that the zillions of blackheads on my super oily face have disappeared. Yes, disappeared, not lessened. I did not use any scrub or exfoliant during these 2 weeks. The best part is it does not make my skin dry or flaky at all, rather it makes my skin a bit oily. I am clueless as to why it makes my skin oily. But just a wash with my regular facewash and my skin feels less oily and normal. I am still using it only 2-3 times a week, fearing that it might make my skin dry but it does not. Though it claims to prevent pimples, I don't have much of problems with pimples, so can't comment on that part. Yes, it effectively removed my blackheads which are very stubborn to the extent that even if I scrub and squeeze them every week, they are back again on my nose, laughing back at me.

Price - I don’t know. It’s a gift. But since, it’s a drugstore brand, it won’t be much expensive.

Quantity - The quantity is huge and it would last ma ages. I require only 5-6 drops to clean my entire face with it.

Fragrance/Smell - As soon as I put it on cotton ball, it smells of only alcohol. I am weird. I love such smells. But girls, with sensitive noses may not like it. I have no issues with the smell.

Not available in India.

I don’t see this getting over for an year. So, whenever this gets over, I would ask my aunt to get another one for me.

Btw, these pictures are taken from my new phone. What do you think ? Are they good enough for a beauty blog.

Vedic Line Plus BB Cream

Vedic Line Plus BB Cream  Claims

This blemish balm cream serves as a foundation for application of make up and protects the skin from UV rays for upto 12 hours. Does not come off easily by sweat or sebum and leaves the skin spotless and wrinkle free.

Usage:

Use it daily, directly or after absorption of Moisturizer, Serum or Essence. For imperfect areas apply extra layer of BB cream.

My Experience

The BB Cream comes in a hot pink tube packaging which is definitely travel friendly. The consistency of the cream is not too thick and quite runny. The first time I squeezed the product, I ended up taking out a lot of this cream because a lot of product came out. Coming to application, I needed only a little bit of it for my entire face. It spreads nicely and blends well, giving a dewy and healthy skin look. It stays on my skin for good 3-4 hours but also does not wash away with sweat. I have dry skin and mix it with a little moisturiser to help dryness also. It fails to provide adequate hydration to my skin, though it’s perfect in all other claims it makes. It helps a bit in concealing acne scars etc. but does not act as concealer.

Disclaimer - Product send by brand for review, but my review is unbiased.
