My Experience with Lashem Double Trouble Mascara

What I loved about Lashem Double Trouble Mascara

1) The first thing which caught my eye the moment I opened the box was the packaging of the products. The mascara came in a sleek shiny silver tube which was just so pretty. I kept on admiring at both the tubes for few minutes.  They look so classy and elegant, which can give a high end brand a run for its money.

2) The mascara is very thoughtfully designed with both lengthening and volumizing brushes at both the ends. At both ends, there were 2 small tubes, containing the volumining and lengthening. The middle of the mascara had both the brushes attached.

3) Does not clump at all, even after 3-4 coats. The Mascara is weightless and I don't feel that I am wearing anything on my eyelashes.

4) The mascara is free of parabens, fragrance and prostaglandin. Lashem does not test its products on animals.

5) I love love the lengthening product of this mascara. It makes lashes look long and defined.

6) I have sensitive eyes but it did not sting my eyes at all.

7) Easy to carry 2 products at the same time. Its great to carry in your handbag for touch-ups during the day.

Left Wand - Lengthening, Right Wand - Voluminizing

What I did not like about Lashem Double Trouble Mascara

  1. It is not waterproof, but can washed off easily with a regular facewash or a cleanser.
  2. The volumizing part disappointed me. It did not make my lashes appear thicker or longer, which I was expecting. My lashes almost looked the same as they were after applying the lengthening mascara.
  3. Availability might be a problem as it is not available at all the stores around you, but you can order it online from their official website of Lashem

Nature’s Brilliance by Sue Products

Wednesday, November 9, 2011
A few days back, I received a few products from Susan of Nature's Brilliance by Sue. I really love the makeup and skincare products she creates. All the credit for introducing me to organic makeup goes to her.

So here are the reviews.

Nature’s Brilliance by Sue Sunny Meadows Hand and Body Lotion

What Nature’s Brilliance by Sue says about the product: This lotion is non-greasy and goes on smooth and evenly. It makes your skin feel like silk afterwards.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Jojoba Oil, Jojoba Protein HP, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Natural Vitamin E, Essentials Oils.

Perfume, Sunny Meadows hand and body lotion and Cranberry Butter lipstick

Comes in 8 oz. size and 2 oz. Travel Size.

Variants -

·         Unscented – No Essential Oils
·         Rose Garden – Organic Lavender, Rose, Basil, Eucalyptus and Geranium
·         Sunshine – Sweet Orange, Lemon, Lime, Tangerine Essential Oils
·         Happiness – Jasmine, Rose, Sandalwood
·         Oriental Gardens – Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Vanilla
·         Delightful – Peppermint, Spearmint, Rosemary

I requested for the Oriental Gardens scent and its heavenly.

My experience with Nature’s Brilliance by Sue in Oriental Gardens:

The Good
  • The bottle is made of plastic with a black press cap on the top with a small nozzle from which the product comes out. The lotion is quite thick so most of the times, I end up unscrewing the cap and pouring out the lotion to use.
  • The label on the bottle mentions the entire list of ingredients, quantity and the fragrance.
  • The lotion has a thick consistency but is light weight and spreads very easily. Absorbs quickly in the skin within a few seconds of rubbing. Its really moisturising and my dry skin feels hydrated and supple as soon as I apply this. I am using this for my face and hands.
  • The scent of the lotion is very mild and soothing and stays for about an hour. I love to sniff my hands whenever I use this lotion.
  • The packaging makes it easy and convenient to carry in a handbag. No chances of spilling or breakage.
  • Does not contain parabens.
The Not so Good
Nature's Brilliance by Sue Natural Roll on Perfume in Sensuous

I have only one word to say about this perfume 'Fabulous'. I love perfumes with strong fragrances but this one, with its soft and soothing fragrance is complete winner. It has hints of cedarwood, ylang ylang, lavender and patchouli.

Ingredients: Organic Jojoba Oil, and Organic Essential Oils. Comes in a beautiful green glass roll-on bottle. This perfume is made fresh upon order. NO PHTHLATES!! NO ALCOHOL!!

I apply a little bit on my wrists and neck. The fragrance reminds me of the woods, gardens and of course nature. The fragrance stays for a good 3-4 hours after which I love to re-apply. It comes in a small glass bottle with a roll-on ball which makes it easy to carry, though glass needs to be handled carefully. I keep it in one of the deep pockets of handbags where there is minimum chance of breakage of glass.

Nature's brilliance by Sue Cranberry Butter lipstick in Bronze Star

Ingredients: Pure Cranberry Butter (Pure Cranberry Fruit, Shea Butter, Jojoba), Certified Organic Jojoba Oil, Lecithin (Vegetable Source), Castor Seed Oil, Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol (Vegetable Source), Olive Fruit Oil, Beeswax, Soybean Lipids, Carnauba Wax, Candelillia Wax, Natural Vitamin E, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Mica, Iron Oxide.

Price - $10

The packaging of the lipstick is very nice. It almost looks like one of the high end brand lipsticks. It shuts tightly and there is no fear of lipstick getting ruined with other makeup or when carried in handbag. The shade is like a dirty brown colour with very fine shimmers which don't look OTT at all. The texture of the lipstick is very creamy and soft with decent pigmentation is wonderful. It spreads evenly in a single swipe. It says for a about 2-3 hours with meals and fades evenly with a light tint.

Swatch of Bronze Star

The only negative I found about this lipstick is that it melts very easily and it cannot be carried in purse/bag during hot and humid summers. I was not at home when the package arrived. So it was left outside by the courier person for about 2 hours and all of it melted. The shade is also a bit brownish which does'nt suit me. Otherwise, I dont find any cons with this lippy.

My Expereince with Motives Lustrafy High-Definition Mascara

What I loved about the Motives Lustrafy High-Definition Mascara :
  • Long wearing - It use it and it stays till I remove it with an oil based cleanser.
  • Smudge proof and water proof- The Mascara does not claim to be waterproof but it cannot be removed with water. I need to use oil or any oil based cleanser to remove it.
  • Dries very quickly in 7-8 seconds. (I kind of timed it :-)
  • Lengthens my lashes and makes them look longer.
  • I was a bit apprehensive about using blue mascara but its a very dark shade on blue. It rather looks almost black with a very slight hint of blue.

Closer Look
  • The wand of this mascara is definitely one of the best wands I have ever used. It separates the lashes and acts as a eyelash comb too. The wand is easy to use on both upper and lower lashes. The wand applies the mascara on all lashes with equal ease.

A Closer look at the wand
  • The wand of this mascara is definitely one of the best wands I have ever used. It separates the lashes and acts as a eyelash comb too. The wand is easy to use on both upper and lower lashes. The wand applies the mascara on all lashes with equal ease.
  • Looks very natural and gives a very well defined look to lashes.

What I did not like about the Motives Lustrafy High-Definition Mascara :

  • The Mascara can get clumpy if you apply 3-4 coats. But it gives a very nice definition to eyelashes in 2 coats only.
  • Can be purchased only from website

My Lip Stuff - Review and Giveaway

Wednesday, November 2, 2011
Hey Girls,

Are you enjoying the slight dip in the mercury ? Me too, but I hate those really harsh and chilly winters. But the moment winters set in, most of us run to stock up on our moisturizers and lip balms. Today, I will be reviewing these wonderful lipbalms from My Lip Stuff. In a few words, these are very moisturizing, non-waxy and collarless lip balms. These are 100% organic lipbalms.

My Lip Stuff Lip Balms

The Philosophy behind  My Lip Stuff

The mission:

My Lip Stuff's ultimate mission is to end the suffering of people with chapped lips all across the land. In the process, we strive to end animal testing and save the environment with chemical-free natural products! Is this a tall order? Absolutely. But we are dedicated- and are willing to start small. If we all do our part our combined efforts will make a big impact on the future of the planet, & just maybe we'll find a cure for something-- even if it is just chapped lips! My Lip Stuff's products are NEVER tested on animals & contain natural (from the earth) ingredients that are skin loving. Our products do NOT contain any harsh ingredients- and NEVER contain petroleum or mineral oil! We also do what we can by using recycled (and recyclable) materials whenever possible, and even using "green power" (power from renewable resources such as wind, water, or landfill gases-instead of oil). We also Drive a Hybrid, and use only fluorescent lighting (no incandescent bulbs here!).

In the end, We strive to create a natural product made from only the highest quality ingredients, with the least amount of impact on the environment and its inhabitants, for the lowest possible price.

My Experience with My Lip Stuff

So coming back to my experience, I instantly fell in love with these lip balms right from the time I first used these lipbalms. These are not all waxy and very moisturizing. They stay a good 2-3 hours on my lips and without meals, for even longer. Lips feel soft instantly after use and even after the lip balm is gone, lip remain soft and supple. I need to re-apply it only 2-3 times a day, unlike the other lip balms which most of us feel like applying every 2 hours. Since, these are colourless, you can easily gift it to your husbands and boyfriends too. :-P I fill my lips with a lip pencil and use this lip balm when I am going out for a nice colour. Did I tell you that they have a huge variety of flavours...and huge here means huge which precisely is 500. Yes, you read it right..500 flavours.

Top to Bottom - Apple Mango, Red Velvet Cake and Peppermint

I totally love the Peppermint flavour. It's Divine.

  • Gives a  nice healthy yet very subtle sheen to lips which makes lips appear more supple and full. The fine lines on my lips appear greatly reduced after applying these lip balms.

The Motives Shape and Sculpt duo combines 2 shades, a dark brown for contouring and beige for highlighting. Very true to their claim, the dark shade creates depth in areas such as the hollows of cheeks. The light shade is perfect for highlighting bridge of nose or chin.  A tiny dust on the cupid’s bow is just what is needed to perfect that pout. Contouring accentuates and hide imperfect face structures, making you look your best every day.

First - For Highlighting, Second - For Contouring

My experience with Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo:

I have a round face with chubby/plump cheeks (A few friends love to pull my cheeks every now and then) and a broad forehead. I should not forget to mention that I am an amateur when it comes makeup and I am still trying to master the art of applying blushes with a lot of help from YouTube videos. I was amazed at the results it gave. My cheeks looked much less plump and well defined. Using the Shape and Sculpt Duo is a cakewalk. All that is needed is a Fluffy Brush. I tried applying with a light hand with my Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush and the results were almost same. No special brush is required. So, let me just sum up the Good and not so Good.

Swatches on my Hand

The Good about Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo
  • ·Soft and Creamy Texture - Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo has a creamy texture and does not dry out my already dry skin. I moisturise my face with my regular moisturiser, wait for 2-3 minutes and use the Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo. No dryness or patchy skin.
  • ·Easily blends with a Fluffy Brush. You can also use your Blush Brush if you don’t have a Fluffy Brush.
  • ·Gives a Nice contoured look. Gives a very well defined contoured look to my plump cheeks. They appear less chubby/plump. Totally serves its purpose. The Highlighter is a very versatile shade and I use it to contour my cupid’s bow and apple of cheeks too.
  • Very economical as it combines 2 products, i.e. contouring powder and the highlighter. The quantity it contains is 10 grams and a very small amount is needed for contouring. So, a little goes a long way.
  • Stays for a long time, almost 6-7 hours, even in hot and humid weather. It starts to fade away gradually after about 5 hours on me.
  • I did not get any breakouts or pimples from using Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo.
  • Free of any fragrance and parabens.

The not so Good about Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo
  • No applicator is included. The case itself is quite big in size and a small applicator should have been included to make it even more travel friendly.
  • Not available in India, and can only be purchased online at here
