Giovanni VitaPro Fusion Leave in Hair Treatment

Monday, April 16, 2012

Hello Ladies,

Recently, I have become a bit hyper obsessed with my hair. Yes, it’s all because of you girls flaunting your gorgeous hair. I am not exactly blessed in the hair department, just that my hair is quite thick, heavy and wavy but it lacks all that lustre and healthy shine which I so badly crave for. Did I forget to tell you that my hair is really really dry also...?? (Sighs) So after reading Tanveer of Addicted to Blush’s post about this hair treatment, I got this one for myself. I have mixed feelings about this product. It worked very nicely for her hair, but I guess my hair is doomed for this lifetime.

What Giovanni VitaPro Fusion Leave in Hair Treatment claims: VITAPRO FUSION Protective Moisture Leave-In Hair Treatment with PureOrganic Technology
  • ·         Deep Conditions;
  • ·         Penetrates damaged hair to rebuild and repair;
  • ·         Infuses hair with protein-enriched botanicals;
  • ·         Protects hair from heat, chemicals and bad days.
Vitamins aren't just good for your body. They're also good for your hair. When combined with protein, the result is stronger, healthier, shinier. Vitapro Fusion fuses together the best parts of vitamins with the essential elements in proteins to create soft, manageable, beautiful hair. Professional hair. What a treat.

Directions
Spray into clean, damp hair. Leave in. Comb through to distribute evenly and style.

For all Hair Types

Price: Rs. 595 for 147 ml

I tried using this in many different ways. I use 4-5 sprays for my shoulder length hair. The spray applicator makes application a cakewalk. Just spray and comb hair to distribute evenly.

Before Hairwash

When  I used it 2 hours before hair wash, it made my hair a bit oily, but after  the hairwash, my hair was back to being its unruly best. It does help with the frizz but only to some extent, only when I use it before as well as hairwash.

After Hairwash

When I used it after a hairwash on naturally dried hair, it did smoothen my hair and the tangles were also very less. My hair looked and felt much smoother, but the effect lasted only for a day.

Used on my Mother’s Hair

I used it on my mom’s hair too. My mom had lost all her hair 2 years back due to her chemotherapy and right now, her hair reached her neck. Her hair too, is quite wavy but since its quite short right now, the waves appear more like small curly ringlets. My mom had the most gorgeous hair i.e. jet black, thick, long, heavy and lustrous hair before her illness. When I used it on her hair, it seems to work better for her hair. Her hair becomes more smooth and soft. The ringlets also seem to straighten out and her hair looks like it has been cut in small layers rather then the curls, which she too detests. Let me just say, it works way better for her hair then my hair.

What works for me

  • ·Ease of application - The spray packaging makes applying it very easy. No need to use fingers. Just spray and comb hair to distribute evenly.
  • · No parabens, no silicons, no SLES etc.  it’s fully organic and certified.
  • · Very less quantity is needed. Just 4-5 sprays. This is going to last me for a long time. Maybe 1.5 - 2 years. Absolute value for money. It may look a bit expensive but the quantity needed everytime is very less. I have used it every week, before and after hairwash for almost 3 months now, and the quantity in the bottle still looks the same.
  • ·         Easy to carry. No fear of liquid spilling and leaking while travelling.
What did not work for me
  • It has little benefit for my hair. I have used it in a lot many ways, varying the quantity from 8-10 sprays to 4-5 sprays, but the effect is always the same.
In my opinion, I think it will work great for girls with normal hair. Girls with dry, very dry and frizzy hair may give it a pass. I think I need something really heavy duty to moisturise my hair. Maybe L'Oreal Professional Expert Serie Intense Repair Masque. What do you suggest ?

My Experience with L’oreal Total Repair 5 Instant Smoothing and Nourishing Oil Serum

I can’t get myself to stick to one shampoo or conditioner (Bad for hair, I know, but I can’t help it. I get bored very easily) Hair serums are something new for me and my first hair serum was the Livon one which I started using a year back. This is my second serum and let’s see how it fared on my dry.....wait you already know about my hair, right ? I have constantly blabbering about it.

This serum comes in small bottle with hole opening for dispensing the serum. It helps to control the quantity of serum, depending on your hair type and length of your hair. I am quite liking this serum. It has a faint fragrance which does not bother me at all. I find all fragrances faint only unless something smells like kerosene oil.

A very little amount is needed for my shoulder length hair. The price is pretty reasonable too. It helps to smoothen out the frizziness of my hair and make it soft and it looks a bit silky too. It helps in detangling my hair too. I am not sure about its claim of repairing damaged hair because I did not notice any improvement in my hair texture. It does not make my hair oily unlike other serums which weigh down my hair.

Verdict - A good hair serum but it does not do everything it claims. I will repurchase it because it does make my hair look better, smoother and healthier. Price is quite reasonable.

My experience with Himalaya Protein Shampoo Extra Moisturizing For Normal to Dry Hair

Trusting the brand, I bought myself the biggest bottle of 400 ml. I dont want to sound rude or anything, but I have only one word for this product, ‘ Horrible’ I already have dry hair and bought this shampoo thinking it will really help to make my hair less dry and manageable as per its claims. But the claims fell flat right from the first time I used it. It’s one of most drying shampoos i have ever used. I usually oil my hair before a hair wash. When i used this shampoo, it made my hair extremely dry and more frizzy. It absolutely did nothing to tame dryness of my hair. The ends of my hair felt like straw (‘jhaadoo’ to be precise, lol) and I had these million tiny frizzy little monsters popping out of everywhere.

Well, to compensate my hair for the torture I did to them with this shampoo, i treated them to a generous dose of warm coconut and olive oil and shampooed the very next day, of course with another shampoo. Long story short, i will never use this shampoo again.

Do you have any recommendation for good shampoo for dry and frizzy hair ?

Divo Paddle Brush and Hair Brush Cleaner - Review

Tuesday, December 6, 2011
Today's post will be a bit different from the usual makeup and of course blushes, my current obsession. It will be about a product  I will be reviewing about Hairbrushes and blush brush by Divo. So, without much ado, let's come to the reviews.

Divo Aaria Paddle Brush

What Divo claims about its Aaria Paddle Brush

Description: The Aaria Paddle Brush detangles, smoothens, and adds finish to styled hair. The pneumatic pad powers bristles to gently penetrate the hair, thus reducing the pulling and breakage of hair while styling. As a durable multipurpose tool, this brush also has a massage effect on the scalp.

Direction of Use: Depending on the volume of your hair, you should first part it into an appropriate number of sections. In order to achieve a smooth finished effect, each section of hair should be brushed individually, both from the inside and the outer side. You should always start by brushing the lower part of your hair with small strokes. You should then work your way upwards to the middle section, and finally end with large strokes from top to bottom. This process helps to detangle knots and preventing snagging of hair.

Brush Care: Every month rinse the brush with gentle soap and water. The brush should always be dried with a soft cloth. The use of Bris Care is recommended for superior cleaning.

Material: Handle: Rubber Body: Plastic Pad: Pneumatic with cushioning Bristles: Ball tipped

Disclaimers: All brushes with a pneumatic pad have a small hole in the pad to allow air to circulate in and out.

The Paddle Brush with pneumatic pad in its full glory. Notice how it flexibly goes down when I press it.
 Price - Rs. 475

My experience with the Divo Aaria Paddle Brush

Honestly, this is the first paddle brush I have used and I am loving it. Previously, I never bothered about using wide toothed hairbrushes or combs. I used to think that every comb or hairbrush, irrespective of the width its bristles, has only one function, i.e. to detangle hair. I was so wrong. So with my first brush with paddle brush, I decided to use it in the same manner as provided on the carton. I have medium length which falls just a bit below my shoulders. I am sure you must have read my previous post about how much obsessed I am with my thick and dry hair. Yes, quite obsessed since it can be quite difficult to manage such hair. So, started brushing sections of my hair with inward and outward strokes. The wide set bristles of this brush makes detangling hair a breeze, specially when hair is dry after after a hair wash. Other then detangling, my hair breakage was very much less compared to hairfall and breakage with other hairbrushes. The tiny little balls at the end of each bristle feels like they give a nice relaxing massage to scalp. The hair does not get caught at all in this brush and no more ouchsss...Don't they hurt so much ?? Coming to the finishing part, I noticed that it also reduces the frizz of my dry hair to half. Too good for me. I love hair care products which reduce frizziness of my hair but never knew that even a hair brush can cut down the frizz. I instantly fell in love with this paddle brush right from the first time I used it.

Coming to the Goods about the Divo Aaria Paddle Brush
  • Gives a nice relaxing massage to scalp due to the tiny balls at the end of each bristle. I usually keep my hair tied since it becomes quite difficult to manage. At times, when I used to keep my hair tied for long time, I could feel some tension and pain in scalp. The paddle brush very effectively relives such tension and pain.
  • Wide brush and it detanlges  hair very easily with very less breakage and pain.
  • I experienced very less hair breakage when I used this brush on my naturally dried hair after a hair wash. I don't prefer to use dryers, straightening irons etc. on my hair at all. They cause more harm in the long run.
  • Very true to its claim, it gives hair a nice finished look. the finished look in my case would be reduction in frizz and hair looks more calm with very less flyaways.
The only negative point which I can think of is the size of the Paddle Brush. Its quite big in size and cannot be easily carried in a handbag. Well, I would love to carry such a wonderful hairbrush with me all the times.

Divo Bris Care Hair Brush Cleaner

Divo also sent me this hair brush cleaner. Lets take a look.

What Divo claims about Divo Bris Care Hair Brush Cleaner

Take a look at the picture. Instructions as to how to clean the paddle brush

Well, this little brush though tiny, but works like a charm when it comes to cleaning hairbrushes. I have used the Divo Paddle Brush for just few days till now and it was not at all dirty, BUT, my other brushes were, especially my round brushes, which I use everyday. This brush cleaned them in just few minutes. All the dirt, grime and broken hair just disappeared after a few single strokes from this brush. A very handy and useful brush cleaner for all my hair brushes, though I have not tried and don't think it will work well on combs. Its specially designed for hairbrushes.
