Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm Review - HG

I usually share a LOVE LOVE relationship with Nivea products. Be it the tinted glosses, creams or body lotions. Most of the times, the products give fabulous results for a very affordable price. Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm is one such product. It’s a nice flavour, fragrance and colour free lip balm. That makes it good enough for men also to use. I have tried many many lip balms but this one has been a staple in my collection of lip balms. It delivers a quality like many high end lip balms. I have used Burt Bees lip balms also. Only wish it was also Minty like the Burt Bees. It applies easily and makes my lips feel soft and smooth texture almost immediately. I feel the need to apply again only after a few hours. On an average, I apply this lip balm 2-3 times a day. This is not a lip balm which you need to apply every 2 hours. It immediately makes my lips soft and reduces the fine lines which show more up more when lips are dry. In short, it makes lips slightly fuller. After application, it is slowly absorbed by the lips and keeps them moisturised for long time. It gives a nice subtle yet healthy sheen to lips, which is not at all OTT. I would still say that guys can also use it.

Ingredients: cera microcristallina, octyldodecanol, hydrogenated polydecene, cetyl palmitate, ricinus communis seed oil, myristyl myristate, cp/hexadecene copolymer, cetearyl alcohol, polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, butyrospermum parkii butter, cocoglycerides, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, vp/eicosene copolymer, c20-40 alkyl stearate, cera carnaube, simmondsia chinensis oil, panthenol, vitis vinifera seed oil, glycerine, cera alba, aqua, limonene, linalool, benzyl benzoate, citral, parfum.

Price - Rs. 99 for 4.8 grams

It is very easily available at most beauty outlets. It can be worn under lipsticks or applied over lipsticks. Needless to say, it’s colourless and won’t mess with the shade of lipstick.

I will definitely repurchase, Oh wait! I have already repurchased the Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm about 4 times. Each tube lasted me around 6 months.

I would recommend it for girls with dry and very dry lips, though in the beginning girls with very dry lips may have to use it more for their lips to get better and supple.

The Goods of Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm:

  • It moisturizes lips very well and makes them look slightly plump and supple.
  • Keeps lips hydrated for a long time.
  • Need to reapply only 2-3 times a day.
  • Inexpensive for the quantity and quality it delivers.
  • Tube packaging makes it very hygienic and travel friendly. The cap is also quite big and won’t loose easily.
  • Can be worn under and over lipsticks, without altering the shade.
I don’t find any Not so Goods. It’s my Holy Grail Lip balm.

Nivea Products are also available on Beautykafe

Reviews - Burt’s Bees Lip Balms - Replenishing and Medicated Variants

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

I will be reviewing two of my favourite lip balms in this post.  The Burt’s Bees Lip Balms in  Replenishing and Medicated Variants. I came to know about this brand only from my lovely friend Zara, when she reviewed these lipbalms on Wiseshe. Well, so the huge lip balm junkie I am, i started itching to get these but these are not available in India. Soon, Apothica came to my rescue. A friend was travelling to USA and I asked her to get me some Burt’s Bees products from Apothica. You can take look at my Apothica Haul here.

Anyways, without much silly talks, I will focus on the reviews now.

My Experience with Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm

Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm is very smooth and nourishing lip balm, which hydrates the lips from first application and keeps them healthy with daily use. By daily use, i don’t mean using the lip balm every 1-2 hours but only like twice a day, in morning and before bed. This lip balm is very moisturizing and leaves a light pink tint on my lips. The tint is such that it can be worn on it own or under a lipstick. If worn under a lipstick, it won’t change the colour of lipstick in any manner. In short, the tint is very faint pink but leaves a glossy shine. It has a slight fruity fragrance which does not stay for long. But the lip balm and its moisturising properties do stay on lips for a long time. It’s very easy to carry and comes in twist up tube. No hassles of dipping fingers. It heals my chapped lips very quickly, almost overnight. The only downside, yeah, you got it right, Burt’s Bees is not available in India.

Will I repurchase - Definitely.

Burt’s Bees Medicated Lip Balm

During my online shopping from Apothica, I got really greedy and wanted to get as many Burt’s Bees products. So instead of just one, I purchased two lip balms from Burt’s Bees. I wanted to try the Burt’s Bees bestseller lip balm, the one with Beeswax, but it was out of stock, so I went for the medicated variant. I am not at all disappointed.

What Burt’s Bees Medicated Lip Balm claims
Tired of chapped lips? Help is on its way. This soothing medicated lip balm provides quick relief to severely dry lips. Camphor and menthol provide a cooling sensation to temporarily relieve chapped lips while rich emollient natural oils moisturise dry lips, leaving them feeling smooth and healthy.

Clove Oil — Eugenia caryophyllus. Extracted from the buds of an aromatic tropical evergreen and has warming, antiseptic, and disinfectant properties.

My Experience with Burt’s Bees Medicated Lip Balm

I won’t say much about this lipbalm except that I just love love it. I have this pretty annoying habit of biting my lips when I am stressed or even while working on laptop. Old habits. Sigh! Quite a lot of times after the biting session, I realise that I have been biting and chewing my lips after they start hurting and turn red. At those times, this little baby comes to my rescue. This lip balm is laden with clove oil and feels like a spicy minty lip balm due to the tingling effect of clove oil. Makes up for the Burt’s Bees Beeswax lip balm which I wanted to try so badly because it’s a peppermint lip balm. It heals and helps to calm down the burning and stretchy painful feeling on my lips (after I realise I have been biting them for an hour while working). Lips immediately feel soothed and the clove oil gives a mild fragrance and tingling sensation which lasts for few hours. I have no complaints with clove oil. But if you have sensitive nose, clove oil may not be your thing. Well, so after I apply this, within few hours my lips start feeling normal and healthy. I can now happily bite and chew my lips, knowing that Burt’s Bees with rescue them everytime. With the winters approaching soon, this is going to be my staple lip balm to kill all the dryness. Pity is that I don’t have it any more. I used it for  a week and then my kid brother took it. L So, yeah, you men out there, you can use it too. It’s not tinted. The Burt’s Bees medicated and beeswax lip balms are more like unisex products, without any tint and can be used by both men and women alike.

Burt’s Bees please come to India. You don’t know how much business you will do here. :-D
