Aroma Magic Almond Eye Cream - Review

Friday, July 8, 2011
Hey Ladies,
How was Friday..? I always feel super active on Fridays. What about you?
Anyways, today I will be reviewing Aroma Magic Almond Eye Cream.
What does Aroma Magic Almond Eye Cream claim
Vitamin A, B and C give excellent tone and suppleness and minimize wrinkles and rings around eyes.

Directions to use
Gently pat the cream around the eyes with finger tips and wipe off with damp cotton after 20 minutes.

Price  Rs 115 for 20 gm (I got this for Rs. 104)

Active ingredients

Extracts of Lemon Peel, Almond, Bach, Grape Seed, Apricot and pure essential oils of Carrot, Palmarosa, Fennel and rose.

Swatch of the Cream

My experience with Aroma Magic Almond Eye Cream

It has a thick, creamy texture and smells mildly of lemon. I don’t have a sensitive nose and that’s the only fragrance I could make out. J I applied the cream as instructed. I used the Almond Eye cream for about 3 weeks and could notice very slight reduction in my dark circles. Well, I am not complaining. I have tried a zillion eye cream and other products hoping to fade my dark circles but none of these worked. But Aroma Magic Almond Eye cream really worked though its quite slow in working. I also noticed that the tiny wrinkles under my left eye had substantially reduced. I am going to buy this again. The cream has a smooth rich texture and most of the times, I end up using it on the dry spots on my face. A tiny drop is enough to nourish the skin (let’s say one cheek).

The Good about Aroma Magic Almond Eye Cream
  • Very reasonably priced
  • Mild fragrance and people with sensitive nose can easily use it.
  • It helps to fade away dark circles and reduce wrinkles. In short, it delivers what it claims.
  • Can be used to remove dryness of skin on other areas of face.
The Not So Good about Aroma Magic Almond Eye Cream
  • Works slowly. I could notice reduction in dark circles after using this cream for 3 weeks.
  • Lists only the active ingredients and not all ingredients.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser (Normal/Combination skin) - Review

Monday, July 4, 2011

Hi girls,

Hope all of you had a great weekend. Today I will be reviewing Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser (Normal/Combination skin). I have been using this moisturiser for almost 2 weeks now and its the right time to review this.

Source: Website
What Liz Earle claims about Skin Repair Moisturiser

This perfectly balanced moisturiser softens, smoothes and conditions skin for a naturally healthy glow. Rich in natural actives, including borage oil (a rich source of the essential fatty acid GLA) and natural antioxidants beta-carotene and vitamin E to replace lost moisture and help protect normal/combination skin. Massage into face and neck, morning and night, after Instant Boost Skin Tonic.Naturally active ingredients include borage and avocado oil to intensively moisturise, smooth and protect.

Suitable for normal/combination skin

How to Use
Gently massage Skin Repair Moisturiser into face and neck morning and night after Instant Boost Skin Tonic.
Ingredients

Ingredients
Avocado Oil (Persea gratissima) - The flesh of the avocado contains nearly 50% plant oil. Highly nutritious, it is a good source of vitamin E, magnesium and linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid and leaves the skin smooth and soft.

Echinacea Extract (Echinacea angustifolia/purpurea) - This pretty flower from the same family as sunflowers and daisies has striking purple petals. It is said to be named because the spiky conical seed head in the centre of the petals resembles a hedgehog (echinos is Greek for hedgehog). Native Americans first used this plant and it has since been used widely in herbal preparations ever since for anything ranging from colds and flu to skin conditions.

Borage Oil (Borago officinalis) - Nicknamed the herb of gladness by the Romans because of its use in treating depression. The beautiful star shaped flowers of this plant give way to tiny seeds crammed with a health promoting plant oil. This oil is one of the richest sources of the essential fatty acid GLA (gamma linolenic acid), which helps to lock moisture onto the skin.

Wheatgerm Oil (Triticum vulgare) -  This oil comes from the seed or ‘germ’ of the wheat stalk. Wheatgerm makes an excellent addition to massage oil as it contains high levels of vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant.

Hops Extract (Humulus lupulus) - This herbal extract comes from the pinecone-like fruit of the hop plant and has astringent and toning properties.

Beta-carotene - Beta-carotene is one of the orange/yellow pigments responsible for the colour of many fruits and vegetables such as carrots, oranges, apricots. It is also widely found in green leafy vegetables but its colour is masked by the green chlorophyll. This is why when the level of chlorophyll in leaves falls during autumn the leaves turn a reddish colour as the beta-carotene becomes visible. Beta-carotene has antioxidant properties.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) - This antioxidant helps protect skin against free radical damage caused by pollution and the sun’s radiation. We only use premium natural-source vitamin E which is up to three times more potent than the synthetic variety.

Glycerin - The glycerin we use is always vegetable derived. It is a humectant (attracts water), drawing atmospheric water onto the skin to aid hydration.

D-panthenol - Otherwise known as pro-vitamin B5, this B vitamin is necessary for the normal functioning of the skin and has a moisturising effect. It also helps stimulate cellular renewal.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, Instant Skin Boost Tonic and Skin Repair Moisturiser comprise the Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing for daily use.

My experience with Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser

I have a dry/combination skin and every moisturiser used to make my oily T-zone super oily in summers. Previously during summers and humidity, I used to skip using moisturiser as very moisturiser, no matter how light, used to make my skin sweaty and greasy. I always used to end up with an oily forehead and nose and dry face.

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser is a delicately scented, off-white cream and though it feels quite thick but absorbs instantly. The best thing about this is it instantly nourishes the skin without making it greasy and sweaty. Provides a matte effect to the skin and can be used before makeup too. I used this moisturiser during one of the rare occasions when I used a foundation. I The moisturiser vanished in a jiffy and the foundation too remained intact without any sweating. My skin looks quite supple and healthy.

Overall, a very nice moisturiser which instantly nourishes and hydrates skin and vanishes all the dry, flaky patches. A great product for use in summers too since it gets instantly absorbed in skin and gives a matte look.

The Entire Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise Range from Liz Earle

Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, Instant Skin boost Tonic and Skin Repair Moisturiser (For Normal/Combination Skin)

It gets two thumbs up from me. Needless to say, I am loving all the Liz Earle Products I have tried so far.

Ingredients
  • Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis) - The gel found in this cactus-like plant’s fat juicy fronds contain active ingredients to help cool, soothe and soften the skin. Aloe vera has been used for more than 6000 years to treat a variety of skin ailments, including sunburn, blisters and burns.

  • Chamomile Essential Oil/Extract (Anthemis nobilis) - This herb takes its name from the Greek kamai (ground) and melon (apple) because of the sweet apple-like fragrance it releases when trodden on. The essential oil is considered a gentle oil by aromatherapists and medical herbalists have used chamomile for soothing the skin for centuries.
  • Hops Extract (Humulus lupulus) - This herbal extract comes from the pinecone-like fruit of the hop plant and has astringent and toning properties.

This luxurious oil is most commonly used in aromatherapy for its toning and balancing properties.
  • Glycerin - The glycerin we use is always vegetable derived. It is a humectant (attracts water), drawing atmospheric water onto the skin to aid hydration.

Liz Earle Instant Skin Boost Tonic

My Experience with Instant Skin Boost Tonic

I have used Instant Skin Boost Tonic for a week now and its a good time to review. Let me tell you a bit about my skin. I have a combination skin, with a very oily T-zone and dry cheeks. After washing my face, my cheeks feel really dry and stretchy and I feel the need to moisturize them even in summers. Before using Instant Skin Boost Tonic, I was using rose water as toner, but it did not provide any hydration to my dry skin areas.

Liz Earle Instant Skin Boost Tonic has a very nice and soothing fragrance, which instantly refreshes in hot and humid summers. It gives a nice subtle and healthy glow to face which we all love. It also provides hydration to my dry cheeks and I don't feel the need to use a moisturizer after using this toner. It is alcohol free and wont dry the skin any further, unlike other toners which contain alcohol. Let me list the good and not so good about it now.

The Good about Liz Earle Instant Skin Boost Tonic

  • Gives a soft and healthy glow to skin instantly.
  • Alcohol free and won't dry out skin, unlike toners which make skin dry and stretchy.
  • Very hydrating and most of the times, I feel like skipping moisturiser after using Instant Skin Boost Tonic.
  • No animal extracts.
  • Paraben Free
  • Very soothing and nice fragrance which makes it a must have toners for summers.
  • Does not leave any oily film or residue.
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • I am loving it. :-)
The Not so Good about Liz Earle Instant Skin Boost Tonic
  • I wish it was in a spray bottle. That would have reduced wastage because sometimes, when in a hurry, I tilt the bottle and some of the product is wasted. (But I think my way of using toners is to be entirely blamed here. I don't use cotton balls and take a little amount in my hands and apply on face)
  • Spray bottle would have been more travel friendly too.
  • Not available in India.
  • Can be purchased online only.
The Entire Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise Range from Liz Earle.
